[Well, then.

For about half a second, she does look concerned, especially when she catches a glimpse of IV closing in against the wall. That's about all she can spare, though. The next moment, her feet fail her (also she doesn't remember how to stop???) and even though she struggles to maybe not fall, lady luck laughs in her face.

She slams against him and collapses, landing on top of him with one hand on his shoulder and the other against his chest from when she tried to brace herself (keyword: try). Her eyes are shut tight, and she feels a bit dizzy. It's warm...

Is she dreaming again?]

[People seem to be making it a habit to run into him today. Thankfully, Leia isn't heavy enough to cause him unnecessary discomfort beyond their awkward position. IV pushes his palms against the ice, ignoring the cold in favor of pushing himself upright from his slumped posture.

Knitting his brow, he looks down at the hand against his chest and then over to Leia. That's what she gets for rushing, but he can't say that he's faultless, either, considering that he failed to catch her standing.]

Are you all right?

[journaler]

[Her head starts to clear. She can hear his voice, and while it's mumbled and she can't exactly make out what he's saying, she can guess at the sentiment. She'd rather he not worry (honestly, this is nothing), so she opens her eyes slowly as she lifts her head.]

I'm okay. I'm--

[...

......ah. Taking in the situation, it suddenly makes sense. How warm and comfortable it had been... She's certain IV can't say the same, though, so she gasps, and after lifting herself up a bit, she rolls off to the side until she's sitting next to him. Similarly, she pushes herself up so that her back is against the wall and she's seated more properly.

It feels like the wind's been knocked out of her. She's a little out of breath from the whole thing (but not for long).]

Sorry. What about you?

[rebelia]

I've been through worse. You're lucky the skates didn't go anywhere.

[The last thing they would have needed is someone's finger getting cut up, much less chopped off from the slip. IV straightens his coat once Leia's removed her hand from it, and then grips the edge of the wall to pull himself to a stand. His clothes don't look too good when they're wet, so he'd rather not sit for long.]

Well, you made it to the other side. You still fell, though.

[journaler]

[They've both been through worse. She hadn't thought about the blades of their skates though; she'll eye IV's as he stands up, and follows suit with belated caution.

It doesn't take long for her to return to good spirits.]

Sure did. Like a shooting star.

[She laughs it off and glances across the rink.]

I think it was worth it, but I didn't mean to take you down with me.

[rebelia]

[The thing about shootings stars is that they're romantic. Leia's fall? Was not. Just like everything else she's subjected him to, which is just, in hindsight, rather funny.]

There seems to be a pattern. You get too excited, and something is bound to happen.

[journaler]

[Like IV knows anything about romance, please. Leia doesn't seem to be discouraged in the slightest.]

I can't help it. Besides, you were the one egging me on.

[rebelia]

That was to get you motivated. [He pushes off the wall and swerves around to face Leia.] I should've known you'd go all out.

[journaler]

...Yeah. You should have.

[She doesn't do anything half-way, okay. She shrugs, smile ever present, and she'll push herself off the wall, too.]

Ready for take two?

[rebelia]

[That's what he was waiting to hear. On cue, IV starts skating backward down the rink again.]

I was wondering when you'd be ready. [He turns to face forward and calls over his shoulder.] What are you waiting for?

[journaler]

You--!

[Backwards. What a show off.

Leia's even more determined, and even though she's learned a valuable lesson, it doesn't deter her from chasing after him. They laugh, and of course she'll fall again, clumsy as she is; but by the end, she's finally able to catch him under her own power (without losing it).

For now, she's not thinking about IV's fate, or the fate of their worlds. She feels light as a feather. It's a rare feeling, one she'll cherish now that she recognizes it.

Much like the life and future of everyone on the colony.]
