『 Hey hey hey, iiit's Leia...! Sorry I missed you, but I'm pretty tied up at the moment--probably chasing my next story. Leave me a message and I'll call you back as soon as I can. Thanks! 』 |

There's barely anyone here, you can come here and we can talk, or I can make some excuse to leave and sneak off to meet you. Which'll it be?
no subject
And I'm bringing my notes with me.
no subject
[Things were happening!!]
Oh! ...I've got mine too!
[...she'd just take the time it took Leia to get there to make physical notes of everything that happened so far.]

But anyway, she hurries, hanging up so she can focus better on running. Not long after, she's making her way into the school supply store, and like always, Myriam is the first thing she sees. She's a bit out of breath from running, and she has multiple notebooks in hand (though only one contains her notes on the new CEO).]
You're not gonna get in trouble, right?
[What does it matter-- THIS IS HUGE.]
no subject
Leia! --Nah, no one comes in this time of day!
I got good news, and I got bad news! Which you want to hear first?
no subject
The "good" news is the murder, which is a huge scoop. [using "good" lightly here] The bad news is that Our Lady CEO won't give us any answers... right?
no subject
The good news, is that apparently the new CEO is aware of our operation... and tacitly approves! I know! I'm shocked too! Maybe we're not being critical enough...
Got another guess for the bad news?
no subject
Nope. Go, go, go! I'm listening.

We've got several options here. One, we can do nothing. Two, we can whine incessantly. Three, we can try to get leverage over her by threatening to print an embarrassing story. Four, we can try to get leverage over her with something that isn't a printable story. Five, we can attach our lips to her wrinkly rear-end and only write pieces fluffing the establishment in hopes she'll reward us with passes.
If we do nothing, we're implicitly accepting we'll never have press passes.
If we whine about it, they'll ignore it.
We can't threaten to print an embarrassing story because we don't have one.
Getting something else that would give us leverage would probably be illegal.
And if we switch to being their de facto PR department... even if it did work, we'd lose all our "free press" cred!
So we're stuck on that front, for now.

Y- Yeah, I got stuck, too. I decided to end things while we were still on civil terms, since she had her hands full anyway.
We should keep tabs on that broadcast. I think she said she had a couple hours to spare, so... maybe something good will come out of it, even if it isn't press passes.

[now was the time to point out any contradictions!]

The name of the new CEO, the victims of the crime she witnessed. Things she noticed in the background of the video feed, especially her assistant Mosley.
Then there's notes on her nonanswers and her role in all this. The fact that she bought CERES because Julius wasn't turning enough profit. The fact that Julius wasn't attached to them or this project at all, though she suspects many others could have told her that one. The fact that this new CEO saw them as mere customers, barred from any goings-on in the investigation.
It goes on in scribbles...]

"The altruistic nature of the previous CEO-guy"? Seriously? This sounds like a bad omen...
no subject
She hasn't elaborated yet, but... I'm thinking she will soon.
I mean, she kind of has to, right?
no subject
Isn't this a sign that things are about to get much, much worse? If this is us receiving "altruism" then things should be about to get really brutal! Kahk kahk kahk kahk...

Check this out!
[hands over a written transcript of the obituary for the last CEO here]

[Somehow she's surprised by this, but it makes perfect sense.]
That's great! We should visit it. Maybe it'll give us some insight.
It'll be a lot harder once you print that and everyone knows.
no subject
Kahk-kahk-kahk... I'm not sure you and me qualify as "Cerealians." Or, y'know, any relocated...
I think this might be a case it'd be safer to report and then let everyone find out about it. Safety in numbers!
no subject
Or... maybe it won't be at all. I can't think of too many people who were attached to Mr. Vincere.
no subject
[gah, how embarrassing to admit she'd barely known anything about this CEO guy.]
At any rate... everyone's gonna know about the murder itself, so we have to poke around even more. We should concentrate on finding new information, maybe from people who they gave unique answers to before clamming up.
...Got any ideas? I suppose I could check with my police contacts...
no subject
...]
She was pretty adamant about keeping us out of it, police or not--but I don't think it'd hurt to talk to them.
What unique answers do you think we should focus on?
